Hearing about the Naca Program

Day 1, on my way to homeownership.

I am starting this blog to document my experience in the Naca Program. This blog is a documentary for my own records and to share my experience with others who are interested in the NACA program.

About me. I am 33 years old and I was married in August 2008. For the last 6 years I have worked for a non-profit organization whose mission is "promoting stable global Financial systems that reduce poverty and inequality".

For the last two years my husband and I rent a really nice place in Crystal City, but are starting to feel the lure of home-ownership. I finally paid off my student loans December 31, 2009, which was my New Years resolution. It seems hard to consider acquiring new debt, but everyone tells me this is good debt.

During a meeting with Meg Wiggins, an accountant helping me get my organizations finances in order so that we can have our annual audit with Gelman, mentioned her success with the Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America (NACA) program.

She told me how it is a non-profit who is interested in neighborhood stabilization and that with their program your interest rate is guaranteed to be 1% below market rates. I am always trying to save money, so that sounds like an amazing opportunity to me.

I took her suggestion and just made an appointment to attend a NACA workshop. The date of the next NACA Workshop that works for me is May 8 at 10 am a the Washington Family Church located at 1610 Columbia Road NW, Washington. I am really excited about the workshop.
